Where am I

IMPORTANT: The information on this page is no longer correct, I have changed my ISP, and I need some time to make necessary changes, so that things start working correctly.

So again I have swiicthed off my mobile phone and you want to know where I am? Here is this Linux machine to your rescue.

And it says: Right Now I am Untraceable :-)

NOTE: How can you be sure this information is fairly correct.

Well The laptop that is with me has a webserver running on GNU/ Linux. As I use XMMS and an XMMS plugin Song-Change updates a small file with information about the song I am playing. The code on this page reads that and displays the contents here, updated every 10 minutes (that 10 minute delay is intentional, if in case you do find me and I have to run away/ hide somewhere). Ok one more thing, the information would be updated only if I am playing something in XMMS.

Regarding the location, usually it is possible for me to know the IP address of my machine on a particular location, and to whichever IP this page is connecting to gives me a rough idea regarding location. For that matter I have broadband access at home for a whooping 3788.80 bytes per second 1:1 pure bandwidth from HFCL :-D
I sincerely hope polling my machine 3 times in 10 minutes wont choke the pipe.

Please note that the location is of Laptop and I may be somewhere around.

Some more information. How much time the computer has been accessible to this server today from my home IP, polled after ever five minute

From Home

From Office

The green shows the times the laptop that is usually with me is accessible, and the hight determines the average RTT (Round trip time) latency for 3 ICMP Echo requests sent from this server to the laptop. If the green line is missing that means for that period the computer was not accessible from this server.

The overlapped blue line is the maximum RTT value.

Legend
X Axis: RTT time in ms
Y Axis: Time of day grows toward right (i.e. right most value is the latest)

Graphs generated with the help of MRTG, ping and a little modified script download from here (original is here).

In case you need information on how to use these tools, please feel free to google or if all else fails mail me.
