The subject cited quote is easier said than done for various reasons. Maybe we believe others may not want to hear it, maybe we want to play it safe, maybe we fear rejection, maybe it is fear of being persecuted. We are afraid. We may not even fully understand the reason for our fear but we may think that it is easier to play it safe.

There is another way around "half-truth", we can dilute our words and not risk as much. But would that be truth? As Gandhi Ji once said, "What is Truth? A difficult question; but I have solved it for myself by saying that it is what the voice within tells you. How then, you ask, [do] different people think of different and contrary truths? Well, seeing that the human mind works through innumerable media and that the evolution of the human mind is not the same for all, it follows that what may be truth for one may be untruth for another…"

This friday 15th June 2007, was my last day at BBSBEC, farewell dear college. I have been at BBSBEC for more than 10 years, first as a student then as a faculty. But again it is not over I will always consider myself to be part of BBSBEC.

Now the new job from Monday 18th June 2007, hope it would be as much fun.

This is inside our RnD lab, you can see me and a number of other fellows here usually from 0830 to around 1800 Hrs IST Mon to Fri and sometimes on Saturday and Sunday also. This cam is available I don't know till when, so enjoy the show.

Moving to a New Server

My homepage ajaypal.com has been moved, from my locally managed server (for the organisation where I am still working, maybe till next month) to a commercially managed server (some where in US I guess), with effect from 14th April 2007 00:00 Hours.

With the expected change in my job, in the coming days, I believe I won't be able to dedicate time for management of this server.

Finally I switched over from HFCL Connect broadband to HFCL Connect Always On to BSNL Dataone broadband. It has been some journey, starting with some love and hate relationship with HFCL Connect over an online bill payment, that the company (HFCL) claims they dont know about, but my Credit Card company says otherwise, and then Consumer Forum coming to my rescue.

Never forget the Power Adapter

A laptop is convenient, but it can be a pain in the ***, sometimes, especially when you forget the power adapter (aka charger) in office. This is what I did today and now the laptop battery is dead, and I am back to my home dekstop with a sick harddisk.
NOTE to myself: I should get the Harddisk replaced as soon as possible with a healthy HDD.

Cartoon Heros

Just today I stumbled upon a website named International Heros, with a sense of nostalgia. There was a time when I used to read comics with the heros Chacha Chowdhary, Chaha Bhatija, Saabu, Super Commando Dhruv, Nagraj a lot of them. There was a time when I never missed a single issue but well not anymore, somehow I have grown out or maybe got into more interesting things. But I do miss the little fun things and the fantasy world these cartoon heros created for me.

But hey many of the super heros I liked to read about I can find on this website. Some of them are listed here Indian Comics Heros.

And I am happy! Why, not because I have got a free shell account on someones server, I can have as many shell accounts as I like, as I am my self running a number of GNU/ Linux servers (including this one). But I am happy that someone is offering no frills free as in freedom shell accounts :-), hope google and yahoo notice this, maybe free shell accounts can be the next big revolution after free email (now free 1GB email accounts). I can safely predict this after reading this nice book In the Beginning was the Command Line, you can find a copy of the same here.

Hey in case you need a shell account, do send a request to Avati at root[AT]mutt.in. He is a nice guy.

Ok I am running a local finger server behind IPTables, you can check what I am doing on my server here:

Whats in My .plan and .project:

My .plan contains IP addresses of machines that connected to the server ajaypal.com, created using a cron job. This list is truncated every one hour. And may not show all IP/ Hostnames. My .plan on mutt.in has a random fortune, updated once everday. My .project has a trace route to mutt.in from this server and vice versa. Again updated once everday using a cron job.
